A commission for a lady fairy has begun. Stay tuned for more photos of this week’s “work in progress”!

Generally, when I have a something that doesn’t feel right about a piece, I’ve learned to trust my instinct. I kept evaluating the size of the head and the way I felt when looking at it, as the body began to take form.
I felt that for a fairy queen her face should be more petite and ethereal, with a look of quiet dignity. With that, I took the time to sculpt another head…and I’m glad that I did, as I’m much pleased with end result. Not only is her head in better proportion to her body, but is more reflective of what a queen fae should be.
Now on to complete detailing her body, and attach hands and head…

There’s a bit more embellishing to be added before her final photos…She needs more glitz and glam to make her really sparkle like a queen!

The lovely little fairy queen is complete. When doing her final touches, I decided to shorten her crown, and change her scepter a bit. I’ve also added a second layer of netting beneath her skirting make it a bit fuller, yet still have an airy feel to her clothing.
Her final photos and information can be viewed HERE.
