Inside the Artist’s Studio….

WIP: The Gathering Faerie

First, the head is sculpted with out the ears, then baked. The ears are added in the next step. This helps to allow more handling of the face while sculpting the details of the ears.

Once the head is complete, its measurement is used to determine the height of the fairy.

1 Head X 8 = Overall height

The head measures about 3/4″ which tells me this fairy will be about 6″ in overall height.

Still deciding on a pose, before adding arms and legs…

She’s been placed in a crawling pose with her little hand out, as if she’s holding something. Now onto the embellishing and wigging…

This time I’d created a pair of butterfly wings printed onto transparency paper instead of my typical Cicada wings, and was rather pleased with the way it gave off the blue hues. This in turn helped me to determine that blue was her color! When it came to the embellishing…leaves, little blue flowers, purple trim…oh, and lots of glitter…I had to tell myself to stop! I was definately having too much fun with it!

There’s more photos to come as she’s going on eBay’s auction block tonight, and can be found HERE when the auction begins.

Sneak peek photos can be found at the website HERE.
