WIP: Dancing Fall Faerie
Here’s a little visual treat this Wednesday from out of the studio…
Early in the month I’d begun to create a new fairy doll inspired by the fall season. I’ve visualized her dressed in all of the bright colors that fall brings as the season ushers us into winter.
She’s assembled on a soft sculptured body made from muslin, batting strips and polyfil with a 16 gauge wire armature for the support frame. Each of her hands and feet have been sculpted over a brass tube, allowing the armature wire to be inserted into each piece.
Although she’s getting closer to completion she still has a bit to go before she done…eyes, hair, clothes, wings…oh, and all of the little magical nuances that will make her seemingly look as though she’s breathing!
Please stay tuned for more to come!
Update: 11-08-2008
She’s received a lovely head of hair, which is a nice golden shade of blond. This was applied in tight rows to make for a fuller and thicker feel and look. Look for a pictorial/ tutorial on this later! After her costuming it’ll be tamed a bit and styled.
After wigging, her arms and head are permanently affixed to the body….Now onto the costuming…
Update: 11/12/2008
Her costuming is in done in leaves with all of the bright fall colors. She’s very colorful… sure to delight and brighten one’s day!
